The snow was flying, the temperatures dropping,
and everyone was in a hurry.
Even though the hour was late and it was close to "closing-time",
there was still time to pick up a flag to fly on this national holiday.

This Presidents Day we were in Oak Park, Illinois.
The snow was flying, the temperatures dropping, and everyone was in a hurry. Even though the hour was late and it was close to "closing-time", there was still time to pick up a flag to fly on this national holiday. ~Nancy ~ 49/365

Driving back to town,
I noticed the steeple of our Catholic Church. The sun was setting behind it. I love the way the light filters through the clear glass without the color. The prairie surrounds it flat and plain. Somehow this little church seems to fit in perfectly... ~Nancy ~ 48/365 It was huntin' and fishin' and football games. We bought it in 1999 and today,
with slightly over 318,000 miles, we finally traded it in. It's been a good ride, but it's time to say, "Good-bye"... ~Nancy ~ 47/365 Last night I had a "Sleep-Over" with my granddaughter, Ashton.
She will turn 12 next month. (How is that possible?!) I am her "Grandma Mi". (We're not quite sure where the name "Mi" came from, but she gave it to me when she first began to talk.) My bed was the futon in her "play room", and this was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes this morning, painted on the wall of the room. I felt like I was hurled through time and space back to the sixties, and I was once again young. Ashton is always happy and always smiling, and that is how she makes me feel when I am with her. Happy. She really is a "flower child". Peace! ~Nancy ~ 46/365 "The motto of Champions: We sat,
we stood, we kneeled, and we watched as our six young men fought to win at the State level. Their trip to the University of Illinois Assembly Hall did not end as they had planned for our "Shelbyville Six". But to them belongs the right to embrace the moment and to be proud of their determination, hard work, and their courage needed to even begin the journey to this day... ~Nancy ~ 45/365 When I pulled into town and passed Main Street School, I knew the sun was perfect to photograph this one school that is pure and simple "Home Town".
Main Street School is just three blocks east of our house, and all of our children attended school there from the First Grade to the Third Grade. In spite of the fact that it is 88 years old, the teachers and staff love and take care of this old school as a "local treasure". ~Nancy ~ 44/365 To see other pictures, visit the "Old School Gallery". 1-2-3.
#1. Common Core Countdown #2. App Up the Writing #3. iPad Tips and Tricks The smiles got bigger as we moved from Common Core Standards to "iPad Fun". Three sessions in a row at our favorite conference. The "Recess Chicks" had fun today, and we thank all of our attendees for their smiles and their willingness to play with us... ~Nancy ~ 43/365 "But the reason I call myself by my childhood name is to remind myself that a scientist must also be absolutely like a child. This morning Ron Ghere and I had the opportunity to judge Fifth Grade Science Fair projects from Kay Besore's Class at Williams Elementary School in Mattoon.
We both enjoyed seeing the excellent work that Mrs. Besore's students submitted, and recognized how well she taught her students about the Scientific Method. ~Nancy ~ 42/365 (**Note-To-Self** Buy "Pure Ice" nail polish next time.) How did it get so late so soon? I burned it tonight...
