Thank you, Sarah Lawrence, for letting me teach your art class today!
I can hear them singing "Amazing Grace" and the angels are smiling...

"Where we love is home - On an early morning walk to the library
past Main Street School, it was hard to resist a skip and a hop... ~Nancy ~ 38/365 I usually take a two-hour nap from one to four. After a long day,
there's nothing better than a nap with your favorite stuffed person. ~Nancy ~ 36/365 I was called early this morning to substitute in Mattoon back in my old classroom at Riddle Elementary.
I always enjoy going "home". Turning the key of the classroom door and walking into the room felt very familiar. Riddle is a beautiful new school that opened in 2003, and when we moved into it from our old school buildings, we felt like our "dreams had come true". Today, though, after school, I found myself at the empty spot where the old Bennett School in Mattoon once stood. I did my "student teaching" at Bennett on the second floor, and I can remember clearly the the wooden floors and the old granite steps that were worn in the middle. Today a brick memorial garden holds the remains of Bennett School on the lot where it once stood near Lytle Park. Nearby, the flag still flies on the flagpole that once witnessed thousands of students enter and leave the door of that old school. ~Nancy ~ 35/365 Make sure you visit the link below for more pictures. It truly called my name this afternoon as I got into the Jeep to "get lost in the country". I found this little river lined with what was left of our snow. Songs really do play in my head when I am happy. ~Nancy ~ 34/365 Congratulations to Garrett, our grandson!
As a freshman, he is our new regional champion at 113 pounds! He said that his medal was small. I would say that his heart is big! Way to go, "G"! ~Nancy ~ 33/365 Today's "subbing" job took me to Moulton Middle School in Shelbyville. Spirit Week. Friday. Cold front. Indoor recess. Thank goodness the moon is "waning" and not full! I did spend recess time inside with "my" fourth grade students, and each time they came up to me to visit, share, or question, I had to keep a straight face. They had no idea that, as they were seriously telling me something, I was working hard to seriously answer a "Cat in a Hat" or some other famous personality. We all gave up on the "serious" part,
and just smiled. ~Nancy ~ 32/365 |
