"Keep your face always toward the sunshine,
and shadows will fall behind you."
~~Walt Whitman
but I managed to fit in a walk on the trail before the sun set.
I was not disappointed...

A few more flowers are braving the cooler temperatures and are blooming in my garden.
The Columbine just "found its bloom" this morning. Every day is a new surprise... ~Nancy ~ 130/365 "I would far rather have two or three lilies of the valley gathered for me by a person I like, Our little flowers were first planted by a gardener
who lived in our house way before I took over their care. I have transplanted them often, and they never fail to bloom. Their first appearance always reminds me of Shannon when she was growing up. She never failed to tell me they were blooming and that they were her favorite. ~Nancy ~ 129/365 (Oh, and it's raining again...) After working hard all day,
it was nice to have the kids and grand-kids spend some time with us at the cabin. ~Nancy ~ 128/365 Today was the essence of May.
Warm. Sunny. Fragrant. And when I walked up the sidewalk from the garage to the house, I discovered that the Allium had begun to bloom. ~Nancy ~ 127/365 "The best thing one can do when it's raining We agreed today that it feels more like the first week of March than the first week of May.
This little girl at the track meet was making the most of it. She has chosen to add some sun into her day with bright colors and to just "let it rain"... ~Nancy ~ 126/365 Its antique colors are brighter in the rain,
with a lush green setting. It was reason enough to venture out in spite of the damp, cold day. ~Nancy ~ 125/365 "God help us if we ever take the theater out of the auction business or anything else. Today we traveled to the Pettyjohn Homestead for one of their auctions.
It was raining. Again. But it did not hold back the crowds, nor their enthusiasm. I loved the atmosphere, and watched the bids go up for the original artwork of Robert Root, a Shelbyville artist (1863–1937). I had my eye on a set of colored Pyrex bowls like my mother once had, but today it was not to be. Next time... ~Nancy ~ 124/365 When men reach their sixties and retire, they go to pieces. Today I attended an after-school retirement gathering for the much loved secretary, Mrs. Sudduth, at North Ward Elementary School in Tuscola.
Mrs. Sudduth has stitched this memento for every teacher that has retired. This year, for her retirement, Shannon was able to get the pattern and stitched the same picture for Mrs. Sudduth as a surprise. I learned today that Mrs. Sudduth is a wonderful cook and has a heart of gold. I know she will be missed, but I have a feeling that the teachers and staff will see her often delivering treats. ~Nancy 123/365 It's raining.
Yup. That's right. Softball practice was cancelled. The next best thing Ashton and I could think of doing was a trip to the library for a new book and a trip to the Dairy Queen for a mini-blizzard. (Make mine "Cappuccino-Heath Bar", please.) ~Nancy ~ 122/365 |
