"Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful;
they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul."

"Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; Today Ron Ghere and I worked hard clearing out weeds from flower beds and trimming around all 60+ trees in the arboretum. It felt wonderful with the sun shining and the trees healthy and growing tall and strong. The wildflowers are blooming in what has been a perfect spring for them.

The Redbud Tree's heart-shaped leaves keep their red color in the forest undergrowth.
I love the contrast with the rich greens of this spring... ~Nancy ~ 161/365 "We made a wish, Freckles.
Sunburn peel. Bib overall shorts. Sleeveless shirts. Dandelion wishes. Marley and I love summer... ~Nancy ~ 160/365 Marley and I took a walk on the trail.
I had seen this mama and her babies last week, but this time Marley spotted them first. We both decided that a close-up was worth the chance of poison ivy and chiggers. We estimate that Mrs. Turkey Hen had about six or seven poults, but they were moving way too quickly for us to count. A nice soapy shower, and now the post... ~Nancy ~ 159/365 "I take care of my flowers and my cats. After an early, early start to the day,
and a long day of workshops and travel, it was nice to have a friend waiting for me to walk with me up the sidewalk and into the back door. ~Nancy ~ 158/365 My friend, Ron Ghere, and I have both noticed how beautiful the roses are this spring.
The cool temperatures and over-abundance of rain have worked their magic. Lucky for me, I am surrounded by neighbors who grow roses, and this morning, I took a few minutes to visit them and take these pictures. I almost feel like I live in Portland, the "City of Roses"... ~Nancy ~ 157/365 Ron's picture of the day is on the same subject. Please don't miss this capture of his rose. I could almost feel the energy of the sun as I watched it set... ~Nancy ~ 156/365 "When the sun is shining, I've passed this barn with Shannon many times,
and have always noticed it. This evening, after our workshop, I drove to visit it with Ashton and Joel to take pictures with the sun low behind us. We love the care that has been given to this old barn... ~Nancy ~ 155/365 "Nothing can beat the smell of dew and flowers Today Ron Ghere and I photographed all the trees in our Arboretum.
When we opened the gate, we were surprised to see the wildflower garden filled with color. Some of the flowers were new to us, and our thought is that different flowers will grow and bloom in sync with the weather that supports them. We knew this spring has been different than any others the arboretum has had. It was cloudy and cold when we arrived, but by the time we finished, the sun appeared and began to dry up the raindrops. Lucky for me, we decided to photograph the flowers before they dried. ~Nancy ~ 154/365 “Hallo, Rabbit,” he said, “is that you?” I didn't think it was going to rain today.
But, it did. Again. These two rabbits found shelter under our spruce tree in the backyard. They are waiting, like me, for the sun and a chance to venture out. ~Nancy ~ 153/365 |
