I had to pull over to catch the way the light reflected off of the old barn and this bale of hay.
What a gorgeous summer we have had!

Would you like to be remembered long after you are gone?
Then plant a flower. Vera was my next door neighbor. Dementia took her away from us long before she died, but every single time these lilies pop out of the ground and bloom, I think of her. She use to plant flowers in my gardens, and I would notice a new plant, new color, or new bloom, and I knew Vera had visited while I was away. I asked her about it once or twice, and her only reply that was that if she claimed planting it, it wouldn't grow. Even though everything she planted grew. These lilies are blooming along her wire fence and are a few of her flowers that have survived in her yard. My gardens are filled with her flowers, and every year their return makes me smile remembering Vera. ~Nancy ~ 221/365 "We don't need a melting pot in this country, folks. Picked fresh this morning and on sale from the back of the truck.
~Nancy ~ 220/365 This bed of flowers is in bloom at "The Smith Home".
Each time I see them, I notice how bright and wild they look. Today they were blowing in the breeze, and I needed to capture the look before I made my way home... ~Nancy ~ 219/365 Last night was a sleepover with my girl and my granddaughter.
One of the ways we got to spend our time was choosing a fabric for living room drapes. I can't believe how often we agree on our choices, and I marvel at the strength of the "thread" that holds us together. These were a few that we liked, but not our final choice... ~Nancy ~ 218/365 "A compromise is the art of dividing a cake in such a way A family cookout brings many good cooks together.
We have Italians and Germans and women who are not afraid to try new things, but also remember the traditional dishes, as well. I had my camera next to me before I had my "first" helping of this dessert brought by my new daughter-in-law, Marti. Sorry I can't share. ;) Bon appetite... ~Nancy ~ 217/365 "My father kept me busy from dawn to dusk when I was a kid. Another cutting of hay has been baled, and, with the right amount of sun, rain, and the right temperatures, we hope to have one more cutting before September 15th. Whenever I see a bale of hay, I think of my niece, Allison, who, when she was little, and every time she saw a bale sitting in the field, would point, and say, "Hey!" Or was it, "Hay!"? It's just a matter of time before the ocean completely claims this tree and turns it into driftwood. But for now, It still stands against the tide and surf. ~Nancy ~ 215/365
Today we came together as a family and celebrated the marriage of my niece, Angellica as they became a couple, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wentworth.
The sun shone brightly over the beach setting with driftwood and the ocean as the alter. This vintage suitcase held the wishes and advice from friends and family. It was a beautiful day filled with beautiful memories... ~Nancy ~ 214/365 This was my view from the balcony when I woke up... ...and later that morning, we traveled to St. Simon Island to climb all 129 steps to the viewing platform of this working lighthouse.
The view was amazing, and the best part was when a ship passed by and with three blasts from the ship's horn, we witnessed the traditional maritime salute every ship gives to working lighthouses as they pass by. ~Nancy ~ 213/365 |
