The night before the Annual Tuscola Cross-Country Classic, Shannon and I set up the awards. Over 400 runners would be competing to earn a medal or a trophy. One of the things I heard one coach say to his girls as they ran by was, "You can do it! All medals here!" I admire their determination and tenacity, and I hope that heaven gives me good knees, lots of breath, and a place where I can do what I see these athletes do at every meet...

"Matchmaker, Matchmaker, Tuscola High School Drama Club will be presenting "A Journey Through Time ~ Celebrating 100 Years of Theatre" on Friday and Saturday nights. Tonight we watched the dress rehearsal and loved the talent and enthusiasm of these young actresses and actors. This is a picture taken of the scene from "Fiddler on the Roof" where the young girls join together to sing to the village matchmaker. Below you will find the "sneak preview" video. ~Nancy ~ 262/365 Last week "my adopted fourth graders" learned about longitude and latitude.
Today, with the help of Ron Ghere, we organized a GPS scavenger hunt. The coordinates were found and the clues were solved. First place went to the team that correctly solved the math problem pieces collected at each "cache". Fingers are helpful when a calculator is not an option! ~Nancy ~ 259/365 "The highlight of my childhood was making my brother laugh The cross-county meet was over.
The cold drinks were gone, and the ice chest was emptied. While "Mom" was visiting with other mothers, I watched while one runner's two younger brothers acted like... well, like little brothers... ~Nancy ~ 258/365 See the little speck of green Granny Smith apple peeking through?
You know you want one. You can have your wish come true! Visit Flesor's Candy Kitchen in Tuscola, Illinois. They have the best caramel apples around! You won't be disappointed! Thanks to Shannon for saving this treat for me! ~Nancy ~ 258/365 A drive through the country and a visit with a friend found this old barn.
Its days are numbered, and it is missing a wall and part of its roof. I can't help but wonder who tied this rope on the iron ring and how long it has hung here. A metal pole building has replaced this barn, but the warmth and strength of this relic can never be replaced. ~Nancy ~ 257/365 A trip to the lake,
a setting sun, and little gnats everywhere. It seems the light was painting my world "abstract"... ~Nancy ~ 255/365 ...Gonna Paint No More!"
I love, love, love the paintings created by Mrs. Hilgendorf's Second Graders at North Ward Elementary School in Tuscola! Our Art teacher, Mrs. Flavin, shared Karen Beaumont's book with them and with straws and watercolor, these fantastically delightful pieces of art were born! Stop in to see them! We guarantee they will make you SMILE! ~Nancy ~ 254/365 Today Shannon and I spent some time at the Douglas County Courthouse.
We remembered the anniversary of one of those days in life that we will never forget. Just like The Assassination of John F. Kennedy, The First Landing on the Moon, and the return of our Vietnam Prisoners of War, we will never forget what we were doing during those first moments and those first hours. So it was today... ~Nancy ~ 253/365 |
