"Someone's sitting in the shade today Another beautiful morning took me for a walk with Buddy the Dog...
~Nancy ~ 293/365 When Ron Ghere and I were involved with our EIU outdoor education workshops each summer, one of the best things we learned was how to turn an acorn cap into a whistle. Who doesn't love to pass on that "skill" to a bunch of ten-year-olds who can then someday share it with their own children! I usually have a cap close by, and my grandchildren always come running with a new one when they find them... ~Nancy ~ 292/365 Parthenocissus quinquefolia, known as Virginia creeper, As the woods take on their autumn colors,
I've noticed the Virginia Creeper is the first one to "show off"... ~Nancy ~ 291/365 Watched Shannon's Cross-Country team run in the Okay Valley Conference XC meet in Shelbyville.
I have loved watching Eric Ponder this season. He simply takes off his work boots, puts on his running shoes, and does what he does best. Runs. Fast. Very fast. Today he came in first well ahead of second place with a 15:03 to break the course record of 15:36. That is very admirable when this course is all about hills, and Tuscola is, well... flat. Tuscola is proud of this young man, and everyone is cheering for him to finish the season at State. ~Nancy ~ 290/365 "Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own; My first walk today with a coat and a scarf.
The changes move slowly, but I enjoy the feel of fall... ~Nancy ~ 289/365 I subbed in a high school physics class today.
Teaching physics would not be as much fun without one of these... ~Nancy ~ 288/365 In spite of the cool fall weather,
Joel and I took a bike ride through Shelbyville. It's amazing the things you notice riding slowly down side roads that you have never seen before . This was one yard we both agreed needed a "Whoa!"... ~Nancy ~ 287/365 A late afternoon hike through the woods found the last light of the day caught up in the undergrowth.
~Nancy ~ 286/365 We live in Central Illinois and we know what this is. But, just in case... "A tip off is the opening play in a basketball game, where the referee throws up Cassidy ("Go, Rams!") is tall.
She gets that job... ~Nancy ~ 285/365 |
