After this morning's wrestling semi-finals, we drove around the south farms on the University of Illinois campus.It was a balmy 63° and the southerly winds filled the air with the familiar scent of the U of I Agriculture Department. I'll take that any day over the smell of industry...

Snow. Another day in paradise... ~Nancy ~ 2.16.2016 The shed of leaves became a cascade of red and gold and after a time the trees stood skeletal against a sky of weathered tin. The land lay bled of its colors. The nights lengthened, went darker, brightened in their clustered stars. The chilled air smelled of woodsmoke, of distances and passing time. Frost glimmered on the morning fields. Crows called across the pewter afternoons." I was ready for a country drive this morning. When we stopped and turned off the truck and I stepped out to take this picture, the fog and fresh blanket of snow made the countryside overwhelmingly quiet. The term "peace and quiet" was taken to a whole new level...
