"Children love their mothers. Especially with a boy child and his mother, there's a bond that's unbreakable. I love my mother to this day."
  ~~Tyler Perry
This is "Grandma Ev". She was my father's stepmother and they were very close.
Her little boy's name was Charles, and he died at a young age.
Grandma Ev had endured so much sadness and still always had that beautiful smile.
Her husband had been killed in WWI, and she married my grandfather in 1929.
They never had children of their own, but she loved her stepchildren and step-grandchildren as though they were her own.

It takes a pure love for children and their innocence to transcend the complexities of relationships.
You can see in her face the joy.

I remember that Dad said he died of laudanum poisoning. It was called soothing syrup and used when children had whooping cough. So sad.
