"It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow." I wish everyone a blessed and peace-filled Easter...
~Nancy ~ 3.27.2016 "No day is so bad it can't be fixed with a nap." On this beautiful sunny day, an open window and a spring breeze adds to the setting for a little nap.
~Nancy ~ 3.20.2016 "Children love their mothers. Especially with a boy child and his mother, there's a bond that's unbreakable. I love my mother to this day." This is "Grandma Ev". She was my father's stepmother and they were very close.
Her little boy's name was Charles, and he died at a young age. Grandma Ev had endured so much sadness and still always had that beautiful smile. Her husband had been killed in WWI, and she married my grandfather in 1929. They never had children of their own, but she loved her stepchildren and step-grandchildren as though they were her own. It takes a pure love for children and their innocence to transcend the complexities of relationships. You can see in her face the joy. ~Nancy ~ 3.19.2016 "Yesterday the twig was brown and bare; After I finished subbing at Riddle today, I took some time to walk through our Arboretum.
Winter has been cruel and there is a lot of damage. Boughs have broken off and are leaning against the fence and many broken birdhouses litter the walk. Number posts are scattered here and there and need to be reassigned. The good news is that trees and prairie plots are waking up. It's time for a spring cleaning... ~Nancy ~ 3.18.2016 "I was taught that to create anything you had to believe in failure, simply because you had to be prepared to go through an idea without any fear. Failure, you learned, as I did in art school, to be a wonderful thing. It allowed you to get up in the morning and take the pillow off your head." I subbed in the Art Room today.
I returned to my roots. I did a lot of walking around and encouraging and listening to ideas. And sharpening pencils. ~Nancy ~ 3.17.2016 "People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." It must be spring...
~Nancy (Nana) ~ 3.16.2016 "Springtime flowers bloom like colorful arrows piercing their way to the sun." Spring would not be complete without the obligatory herald of the daffodil...
~Nancy ~ 3.15.2016 "Springtime is the land awakening. The March winds are the morning yawn." Another walk on another rainy spring day.
It feels early, but nobody is complaining. I love the soft edges of the trees as the emerging buds take shape... ~Nancy ~ 3.14.2016 "You will not be the same after the storms of life; you will be stronger, wiser and more alive than ever before!" With the day an hour shorter, we committed ourselves to spend some time outside, even with the rain.
The lake is the nicest when the water is free from the wake of boats... ~Nancy ~ 3.13.2016 |
