The topographical map showed 2 miles, but with side hikes through meadows and aspen groves, it was closer to 3 1/2.
The good news is that wildflowers are still blooming in the meadows and woods.

Summit County, Colorado We drove through lots of country and Dillon, Colorado to walk the trail around the Lower Cataract Lake. The topographical map showed 2 miles, but with side hikes through meadows and aspen groves, it was closer to 3 1/2. A few aspen leaves are turning yellow, but still early for the fall colors. The good news is that wildflowers are still blooming in the meadows and woods. Coming out of the woods to head around We passed several of these structures along ranch fence and I'm sincerely interested in knowing what they are. If you can help a girl out in the "Comments" section, I would really appreciate it!

This was a rocky, steep climb, but the waterfall and the view from above made the effort very worth it.
We didn't climb to the top, since we were still acclimating to the high altitude, but we'll be back... ~Nancy ~ 8-31-2015 Today's hike took us through a wetland preserve with the hope of finding moose.
Not today, but still hopeful... ~Nancy ~ 8/30/2015 "Today you are you! Thank you for always including us in your birthday celebrations...
~Nancy (Nanny) ~ 206/365 Day One Ashton declared her love for the train over air travel. Where else can you sleep with your iPod plugged in and charging with as much leg room and an empty seat next to you?! With a little rain outside, there's nothing to do but... ...eat! The rain has stopped, skies have cleared, and it's time to walk around Chicago... Waiting for "Blue Man Group" to begin. It was a good time! The landscape lighting from our hotel window... Day Two Millenium Park. A selfie in the "Bean" is required. Ashton's first visit to the Chicago Art Institute. These pieces need no explanation... Love. Just love. Views into the Thorne Miniature Rooms... Monsieur Marc Chagall's "American Windows"... And a bus tour of the City of Chicago... An Italian lunch at Bongiorno's Pizza & Deli on Wabash Avenue. Outside seating and cold water in a bottle on a warm afternoon. Just about perfect... Thank you, Miss Ashton, for sharing your Chicago trip with your mom and me...
We ended our last day of working with the New City School staff wandering the halls and taking a few pictures. We absolutely love the atmosphere of the school and the motivation of the teachers as we worked together!
~Nancy ~ 162/365 "My dream is to have a house on the beach, even just a little shack somewhere so I can wake up, have coffee, look at dolphins, be quiet and breathe the air." Ready to start a new day of workshops with the teachers at New City School in St. Louis.
Shannon and I had breakfast in this little coffee house near Forest Park and Washington University. My cup of coffee was as good as it looked... ~Nancy ~ 160/365 "It is not good to cross the bridge before you get to it." Shannon and I arrived in Quincy just in time to catch this sunset view over the Mississippi River and the Bayview Bridge that connects Quincy, Illinois and West Quincy, Missouri. We're looking forward to a day of workshops here tomorrow, and having a chance to reconnect with other teachers through one of our favorite ROE's.
