Hays, Kansas is our stop for tonight.
When we read that it was the largest city in northwestern Kansas with a population of 20,000,
we thought it was our best option for a bed, food, and fuel.
Five minutes in the hotel was all we needed to find some "Kansas Sights".

We visited "Old Fort Hays" where a few buildings have been preserved.
Below is one of two of the Officers' Quarters complete with outbuildings behind it.

Plymouth School has been moved and restored on the grounds of Fort Hays State University.
The schoolhouse stood empty and quiet, as did the university, but I was able to take pictures through the windows of the old school to get a glimpse of what 1874 education looked like on the grasslands of Kansas.
