As you leave the small town of Strasburg, Illinois, (Population: 500),
the sign reads, "Auf Wiedersehen!"
Between Strasburg and the town of Stewardson stands Stewardson-Strasburg Consolidated schools that were opened in 1950.
Before that, each little town had its own school, and the old Strasburg School building is what remains of this little town's personal contribution to the education of its young citizens.
This is the fire-escape on the side of the abandoned building,
and I can imagine boys and girls sitting on its steps sharing secrets and quiet times together.
