Velvet

This evening I made time to walk the trail.
I heard something in the woods,
and turned to find this buck watching me carefully.
I haven't seen any deer for weeks,
and this moment was special.
His antlers are just starting to form,
and I don't know how old he is.

I hope he stays in the woods around the trail so I can see him again...
