I have taken a temporary long-term substituting job in Tuscola in a fourth grade classroom.
I have been with the students since "Day 1" and truly enjoyed my first week back. I feel, in many ways, like I've stepped back in time teaching in a small community. The superintendent is seen every single day in every single building, and each and every person on the staff is patient, helpful, and have made me feel very much a part of the team. They also have the best "Technology Coordinator" in the world. Seriously. The one thing that I had forgotten about is "Milk Breaks". Every single day, after PE, I take the students into the cafeteria where they each get a carton of milk. It's cold out of the cooler, and they all drink every, single drop. Welcome to "Old School" and lovin' it! ~Nancy ~ 231/365 Summer flowers are starting to fade and soon they will be replaced by early autumn blooms.
These coneflowers were buzzing with yellow visitors as I took an evening walk. ~Nancy ~ 230/365 The setting sun gave this bench an even brighter glow as it provided a perfect contrast to the flowers in this garden. The colors seem to be a beginning announcement of autumn...
~Nancy ~ 229/365 I was back at Lithia Springs Marina as the sun rose on a beautiful morning.
Facing my fears, I walked along the docks to look at the boats and their names. (My personal favorite was "Irish Wake".) Taking this picture, though, did tug at my stomach, and I decided to just sit down in the middle of the dock rather than have the feeling that I was losing my balance as I looked through the lens. Below is a picture of my view as I walked back to the Jeep... ~Nancy ~ 228/365 ...boys.
Ty is going to start third grade next week. He is trying to teach himself how to write with his left hand. He's pretty bummed out about missing soccer season because of this broken arm... ~Nancy ~ 227/365 While teachers were inside working until the last minute to get their rooms ready for tonight's Parent Orientation, members of the Tuscola High School Student Council were busy outside decorating the entrance sidewalk with "chalk art" that will greet the students in the morning. Welcome back! ~Nancy ~ 226/365 The docks were quiet as these boats were moored at the Lithia Springs Marina, waiting for the weekend...

Our red-tail hawk has been visiting again... ~Nancy ~ 224/365 healthy...
On an overcast day, this was the most colorful thing in my viewfinder. This is what's for dinner when I ask Shannon to fix me what she is having. It was more than good! ~Nancy ~ 223/365 |
